現地時間2025年8月21日（木）、午前12時半ごろに起きた。メトロタウン駅前の小さな音楽祭に行った。ホストマザーが誘ってくれたイベントで、ホストマザーとその友人も来ていた。
イベントが始まる前、メトロタウン駅と隣駅の間を歩いた。線路沿いには、色々な木が植わっている。
街路樹のなかで、ある針葉樹が私の目に留まった。昨日クイーン・エリザベス・パークで見た、ウツクシモミに似ている。
今日見たその木は、モミではないだろう。もしモミならば球果が上に向かって立ってるはずだが、この木の球果は下向きについていた。モミではないとしたらトウヒの一種かもしれない。それ以上の細かな分類は、私にはわからない。
On Thursday, August 21st, 2025, I got up at 12:30 p.m. PDT and went to a small music festival in front of Metrotown Station with my host mother and one of her friends.
Before the festival, I walked between Metrotown Station and the next stop, Patterson Station. Along the railway, several trees are planted.
One of them caught my attention because it was a conifer that looked similar to the Pacific silver fir I saw yesterday at Queen Elizabeth Park.
The tree I observed today had cones hanging down, which suggests that it isn’t a fir, since fir cones stand upright. Based on the leaves and cones I saw, it might be a spruce, though I’m not sure about the detailed classification among spruces.
