現地時間2025年8月10日（日）、午前11時半ごろに起きた。午後、賃貸物件の内見をした。
内見は、残念な結果に終わった。顛末は以下の通り。
まず、不動産の担当者と物件の前で集合した。すぐに内見できると私は思っていたが、そうはいかなかった。担当者は、まず別の人にオンラインで部屋を見せた後、私に部屋を紹介すると告げた。
その別の希望者は、オンラインの内見が終わったすぐ後に、入居を決めた。つまり、私は内見をしたとしても、入居ができなくなってしまった。なかなか信じがたい状況だ。担当者は申し訳なく思ったのか、ほかの候補物件を私に提示してくれた。
残念だったのはこれだけではない。数日前に内見した別の物件について、「入居お断り」の連絡が届いた。物件の新しい住人は全員女性になるため、男性である私は同居できないという。
On Sunday, August 10th, 2025, I got up around 11:30 a.m. PDT and went out in the afternoon for a house viewing.
The outcome was not what I expected. The employee who was supposed to show me the house told me that she would first give another person an online tour of the property, and that I could only see it afterward.
As soon as that person’s online viewing ended, I was told they had already decided to move into the house. In other words, even if I had viewed it, I wouldn’t have been able to move in. I couldn’t believe what was happening. Since she felt sorry, she searched for other housing options for me.
This wasn’t the only disappointing experience. A few days earlier, I had looked at a room in a condo near downtown Vancouver. However, today I received an email saying that I had been rejected because all the new residents of that unit would be female, and a male roommate like me wasn’t allowed.
