現地時間2025年9月4日（木）、午前10時ごろに起きた。一日中、外に出なかった。
今月から住んでいる部屋は、一軒家の地下にある。外に出ない限り、日光を浴びることはほとんどできない。前に住んでいた集合住宅は日差しが眩しすぎるくらいだったので、環境は大きく変わった。
洗濯についても、新居に移ってから変わったポイントだ。これまで住んできた家では、ホストマザーが週1回洗濯してくれていたが、今の家では自分でやらなければならない。ということで今日、私はバンクーバーで初めての洗濯をした。
洗濯する際に「薄いシートを使う」と、日本出身の友人から聞いたことがある。ホストマザーもそれを使っていたが、どこで手に入るのか、どう使うのか、私には分からない。なので、今回の洗濯では使わなかった。
On Thursday, September 4th, 2025, I got up around 10:00 a.m. PDT and stayed inside all day.
Since my new room is in the basement of a detached house, I can hardly get any sunlight unless I go outside. The room has a small window high on the wall, but I can barely see anything through it, which is quite different from the condo room I used to live in.
Another thing I need to get used to in this new environment is doing my own laundry. When I lived in my former host families’ houses in Vancouver, my host mothers did the laundry for me once a week, but now I have to take care of it myself. Using the detergent I bought yesterday, I did my first load of laundry in Vancouver today.
A Japanese friend once told me to use a thin laundry sheet, and my host mother also used it. However, I didn’t use one this time because I’m not sure where to get it or how to use it.
