現地時間2025年9月13日（土）、午前11時に起きた。夕方、弓をひいた。
毎週土曜日は弓道の練習をしているが、今日は弓道の「試合」があった。カナダとオーストラリアの試合だと聞いている。もっとも、カナダ内の別都市の選手や、オーストラリアの選手を目にすることはなかった。勝敗の決め方など、試合の形式を私は把握できていないが、おそらく、両国の参加者の結果を誰かが後でまとめるのだろう。
今回の試合では、各参加者が1回につき4本の矢を放つ。それを3回繰り返す。つまり、1人が合計で放つ矢の数は、12本だ。
私の結果はまるでジェットコースターのように、上下動が激しかった。1回目は4本すべてが的にあたり、2回目は4本すべてを外した。最後の回では3本が的中した。合計で12射7中。最終的には、自分の予想を上回る出来だった。
On Saturday, September 13th, 2025, I got up at 11:00 a.m. PDT and headed in the evening to the place where I usually practice Japanese archery.
Today’s session wasn’t a regular practice but a match. I had been told that it was an event between Canada and Australia, but I didn’t see anyone from Australia or from other Canadian cities. I guess the results of all participants in both countries will be compiled later, but I’m not sure.
All participants from our Japanese archery club in Vancouver shot four arrows per round, and we had three rounds in total. So everyone had twelve chances to hit the target. From what I know, these rules weren’t much different from matches in Japan.
My performance was like a rollercoaster, yet it surpassed what I had expected beforehand. In the first round, I hit the target with all four arrows, which was extremely surprising. In the second round, however, my score was the opposite—zero out of four. In the final round, I was just one shy of hitting all four. My total score was seven out of twelve.
