現地時間2025年9月18日（木）、午前11時ごろに起きた。先月までお世話になった元ホストマザーと一緒に、昼食へ出かけた。
誘ってくれたのは、元ホストマザーの方だ。「おいしい炒飯を食べに行こう」と提案してくれた。私は店の場所を知らないまま、この知人についていった。知人が最終的に案内してくれた場所は、カジノ。お目当てのレストランはカジノの建物内にあるという。
カジノ到着後に、思わぬ問題が発生した。施設に入るには写真付き身分証の提示が必要だったが、私はそれを知らなかった。身分証を持ってきておらず、入場できなかった。知人の話によると、以前は身分証を提示する必要がなかったという。今は規則が厳しくなったようだ。
別の店を探すことになった私たちは、カジノのすぐ外にある中華料理屋で昼食をとった。
On Thursday, September 18th, 2025, I got up around 11:00 a.m. PDT and went out for lunch with my former host mother, with whom I had lived until last month.
She invited me to lunch, saying she wanted to take me to a restaurant that serves delicious fried rice. I was looking forward to having it with her, but I didn’t ask where the restaurant was until we arrived. To my surprise, the place we ended up going for fried rice was inside a casino. She explained that the restaurant was located within the casino building.
However, I ran into a serious problem when trying to enter this fancy facility: we had to show photo IDs, and I hadn’t brought mine with me. As a result, they refused to let me in. She told me that we didn’t use to need photo IDs before, but the resort had tightened its rules.
In the end, we looked for another place to eat and ended up at a Chinese restaurant just outside the casino.
