現地時間2025年10月23日（木）、午前10時半ごろに起きた。昼、アイススケートをやった。
夕方はカーリングの練習をした。先月から初心者教室に参加しており、今日が最後のレッスンだった。
練習の甲斐あって、ストーンを投げるのにだいぶ慣れてきた。今日の練習では的のなか、もしくはその近くに、そこそこの確率でストーンを持っていくことができた。
これまで私たち初心者はストーンを投げる際、スタビライザーを使っていた。この器具によって左腕を支える。だが今日の練習では使わず、ブラシを左腕の支えにして投げてみた。まるでオリンピック選手のようだ。個人的には、スタビライザーの有無によって投げ心地が大きく変わる感じはしなかった。
ただし、上級者と試合をする段階にはまだ達していない。これからも練習あるのみだ。
On Thursday, October 23rd, 2025, I got up around 10:30 a.m. PDT and went ice skating around noon.
In the evening, I headed to Richmond to practice curling, which was the final lesson of the beginners’ course I have been taking since last month.
Since I’ve become more comfortable playing curling through the practices so far, I was able to place stones in or around the house—the target area of the sport—with a fair success rate today.
While we beginners have been using stabilizers to support our left arms when delivering rocks, we tried throwing them without stabilizers and using brooms instead, which is how Olympians usually play. Personally, I didn’t feel much difference in comfort between using a stabilizer and a broom, so I could deliver rocks with a broom without much trouble.
However, there is still room for improvement in my accuracy if I want to join games with more experienced players. I’ll keep going to the same facility to refine my skills.
