現地時間2025年10月30日（木）、午前7時半に起きた。電車でリッチモンドへ向かった。
リッチモンドにあるMinoru Arenasを訪れた。Minoru Arenasは、2つのスケートリンクを備える施設。普段別の場所でスケートをしている私は、バンクーバー都市圏にあるほかのリンクにも興味が湧いてきた。
Minoru Arenasの外観や内装からは、その歴史の長さを感じる。Minoru Centre for Active Livingのウェブサイトによると、施設内の1つ目のリンクは1965年にオープンし、もう1つのリンクは1984年に拡張されたという。
アリーナがある地区は、リッチモンドにおけるスポーツと文化の中心地のようだ。400mの陸上トラックに加え、プール、野球場、クリケットグラウンド、図書館などが集まっている。
On Thursday, October 30th, 2025, I got up at 7:30 a.m. PDT and headed to Richmond by train.
One of the places I visited today was Minoru Arenas, which has two ice rinks. Since I have been practicing ice skating on my own, I’ve become interested in ice rinks around Metro Vancouver.
Compared to the skating facility I usually go to, I found both the exterior and interior of the arenas to be more classical and historical. According to the website of the Minoru Centre for Active Living, one of the rinks opened in 1965, and the other was expanded in 1984.
The district that includes the arenas seems to serve as a hub for sports and culture in Richmond. Various facilities—such as a 400-meter track, a spacious aquatic centre, a baseball diamond, a cricket pitch, and a library—are compactly concentrated in the area. I’m impressed not only by that fact but also by how easily the area can be accessed on foot from a nearby station.
