現地時間2025年11月4日（火）、午前11時ごろに起きた。昼、アイススケートをした。
夕方はカーリング。先週の練習と同様、他の初心者たちと試合形式でプレーした。
今日の練習では、テイクアウトショットがいかに難しいかを学んだ。ほかの種類のショットと比べて、より正確に投げなければいけないと感じ、初めての挑戦は失敗した。2回目では、想定通りに相手のストーンをはじくことができた。
カーリングの難しさは、ストーンを投げることだけではない。味方に指示を出すことも難しい。スキップというポジションを務めた際は、ストーンをどこに置くか、そして投げ手がどこに向かって滑るべきなのかを考えなければいけない。それに当たって、ストーンがどの程度曲がるかを予測する必要がある。今の自分にはそれが難しい。
On Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, I got up around 11:00 a.m. PST and went ice skating around noon.
In the evening, I practiced curling in Richmond, just like last Tuesday. As before, I played in a match-style format together with other beginners.
What I learned from today’s session was how difficult it is to make a take-out shot. It made me realize that accuracy is more important than with other types of shots. When I tried to get rid of the opponent’s stone for the first time, I failed. On the second attempt, though, I succeeded as my teammates and I had planned.
The difficulties of this sport extend beyond throwing rocks. As a skip, I found giving directions quite challenging. The player must decide where the stone should land and in which direction the thrower should slide forward. To determine these two factors, it’s necessary to estimate how much the rock will curl – something I still find difficult to predict. I need to gain more experience with this sport and develop a better sense of anticipation.
