現地時間2025年11月8日（土）、13時半ごろに起きた。夕方、弓道の練習をした。
練習前、バラード駅の周辺を散歩した。バンクーバーの中心部に位置するバラード駅。すぐ隣には公園がある。規模は大きくないものの、都会の中のオアシスのような存在だ。
この公園でヤツデが咲いていた。バンクーバーでこの木を見るのは、私にとって初めて。今の季節は花が少ないだけに、ヤツデの花もある意味「オアシス」と言えよう。
ヤツデといえば、日本の屋久島でも見ることができる。私は12月に花を目撃した。ただし、バンクーバーのものとまったく同じ種類なのかはわからない。
On Saturday, November 8th, 2025, I got up around 1:30 p.m. PST and practiced Japanese archery in the evening.
Before practice, I took a stroll around Burrard Station. Although the station is located in the heart of Vancouver, there is a small park with trees next to it, which feels like an oasis amid the busy area.
At the park, I unexpectedly came across clusters of tiny flowers on a fatsia—a species I had never seen in Vancouver before. Since it is hard to find flowers in this cold season, these blossoms felt precious to me, like a small oasis within an oasis.
Speaking of fatsia, its flowers can be seen in December on Yakushima Island in Japan, though I’m not sure if they are exactly the same species as the ones in Vancouver.
