2025年11月11日（火）、午前12時半ごろ、成田空港に到着した。父が迎えに来てくれて、神奈川県の実家まで車で送ってくれた。
実家で相撲を観た。相撲の生中継を見るのは久しぶりで、懐かしい気持ちになった。
私が相撲ファンだったのは、かなり昔の話。朝青龍と白鵬が圧倒的な強さを誇っていた頃だ。彼らが引退した後、私は相撲への興味を失ってしまった。
今日の力士たちの取組は、「あの頃」の面白さを私に思い出させてくれた。2人の横綱である、大の里と豊昇龍が強さを見せ、他の力士たちも個性が際立っていた。
On Tuesday, November 11th, 2025, I arrived at Narita International Airport in Japan around 12:30 p.m. My father picked me up there and drove me to my parents’ home in Kanagawa Prefecture.
After returning home, I watched sumo, a form of wrestling unique to Japan, live on TV for the first time in a while.
When two legendary Mongolian wrestlers, Asashoryu and Hakuho, were dominating the sumo world, I used to be a fan of Japan’s national sport. Their strength was powerful enough to capture my attention, but after they retired, I lost interest in it.
The performance of the sumo wrestlers I watched on TV this evening reminded me of the era when the Mongolian wrestlers were active. The two current yokozuna—the highest-ranked wrestlers—showed great strength, and the other wrestlers also displayed distinctive characteristics.
