2025年11月17日（月）、午前8時に起きた。実家を出て成田空港へ向かった。夕方に日本を発ち、カナダへ向かった。現地時間17日の朝、バンクーバーに到着し、私の1週間の日本滞在は終わりを迎えた。
滞在の主な目的は、結婚式に出席することだった。そのほか、友人と遊んだり、公園を散歩したりもした。
印象に残ったのはユリノキだ。バンクーバーでユリノキを知った私は、今回の滞在で、横浜でも植わっていることに気づいた。横浜のユリノキの黄葉は、バンクーバーのものほど美しくなっていなかった。
バンクーバーに植わっている木々と、首都圏で見かける木々。どちらかというと、首都圏の方が私の好みに合っている。クスノキやセンダン、ケヤキなど、鑑賞に値する木が多くある。
On Monday, November 17th, 2025, I got up around 8:00 a.m. and left my home in Yokohama to head to Narita International Airport. The airplane I took departed from Japan in the evening and arrived at an airport in Vancouver on the morning of November 17th (PST), bringing my short one-week stay in Japan to an end.
While the main purpose of the trip was to attend a wedding reception, I also had many other experiences, including hanging out with a friend and walking around parks.
What stood out to me most during my stay in Japan was the tulip tree. Since I had become familiar with the species in Vancouver, I noticed that it is also planted in towns around Yokohama, my hometown. Unfortunately, based on what I observed, its foliage there was not as beautiful as it is in Vancouver.
That said, I still prefer the trees in the Tokyo metropolitan area to those in Metro Vancouver. There are many trees in Japanese towns that are worth appreciating, such as camphor trees, Chinaberry, and Japanese zelkova, which I have never seen in Vancouver.
