アイスホッケーの試合を家で観た。対戦カードは、エドモントン・オイラーズとタンパベイ・ライトニング。私が応援しているオイラーズは延長戦の末、1対2で負けた。
得点数こそ多くなかったが、全体的に面白い試合だった。お互い果敢に攻め、両チームのゴーリーが見事に相手の攻撃を防いだ。決勝ゴールに至るまでの目まぐるしい攻防は特に、一見の価値があった。
アイスホッケーの試合では延長戦に入ると、各チームの選手の数が5人から3人に減る。これによって得点が入りやすくなる。アメリカの野球と似た考えだ。野球の延長戦でも、得点しやすくするための規定が適用される。
On Thursday, November 20th, 2025, I got up around 8:00 a.m. PST and stayed at home all day.
I watched an ice hockey match between the Edmonton Oilers and the Tampa Bay Lightning on the internet. While I root for the Oilers, the Lightning won 2–1 in overtime.
Although neither team scored many times, it was exciting to watch throughout the game, probably because both teams attacked aggressively and both goalies made incredible saves. The particularly fast-paced plays leading up to Jake Guentzel’s game-winning goal were dramatic.
In overtime, the number of skaters on each team is reduced from five to three, which makes it easier for players to score. This regulation is similar to extra innings in North American baseball, in that the league also applies a rule designed to make scoring easier in those innings.
