現地時間2025年11月21日（金）、午前6時に起きた。公園でボランティアに参加した。
ボランティアの活動では、外来植物を除去したり、新たに苗を植えたりする。今日の作業中は雨が降っていた。これまでの作業でも何度か、雨に見舞われたことがある。
バンクーバーの冬は雨がよく降る。雨合羽と長靴が役に立つ季節だ。これまで私はボランティアに参加する際、雨具を借りていたが、これからは自前のものを使うことにした。髪や顔は濡れてしまったものの、ずぶ濡れにはならずに済んだ。
作業の合間、植物について、ボランティア仲間の学生と話した。その学生は、ベイマツをはじめ、バンクーバーで一般的な木について教えてくれた。いつか私もその人のように、ベイマツを見分けることができるようになりたい。
On Friday, November 21st, 2025, I got up around 8:00 a.m. PST and took part in volunteer work at a park.
I’ve been taking part in a volunteer activity that involves removing invasive plants and planting new ones. As has happened a few times before, it was raining while the volunteers were working in the park.
Since rainy weather becomes more frequent in winter than in summer, I brought my rain jacket and my rain boots today, which was the first time I actually made use of the boots for this activity. Although they worked well and kept me from getting soaked, my hair and face still got wet.
A young student who is also a volunteer taught me about some common trees in Vancouver, especially Douglas fir. Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford to take pictures of them today because of the rain, but I hope to photograph them and identify them more easily next time.
