2025年11月15日（土）、午前7時半に起きた。親友の結婚式に出席した。
結婚式は新郎新婦を祝う場だ。同時に、初めて会う人や滅多に会うことのない人にお目にかかれる場でもある。私が今回出席した披露宴では、親友の両親、そして新婦がどんな人なのかを知ることができた。
これまでに参加した披露宴ではたいてい、スピーチを聴く時間が多くあった。しかし今日の披露宴では確か、スピーチが1～2回しかなかったと記憶している。回数が少ないことに対してネガティブな印象はないが、意外ではあった。
会場は、「ホテルニューグランド」。横浜では有名な、格式あるホテルだ。以前からその存在を知っていた私だが、建物内に入るのは今日が初めてだった。上階からの景色は見事で、料理の美味しさも印象に残っている。
On Saturday, November 15th, 2025, I got up around 7:30 a.m. and attended my best friend from high school’s wedding in Yokohama.
A wedding is not just an opportunity to celebrate a friend’s special day; it also gives me a chance to meet people I have never met before or rarely see, such as my friends’ spouses and their parents. At this wedding, I found it interesting to get to know my friend’s bride as well as my friend’s parents.
In my experience, wedding receptions usually include plenty of speeches from hosts or friends. However, as far as I remember, there were only one or two speeches at this wedding. It doesn’t really matter to me whether there are many speeches or not, but I was slightly surprised.
The venue for the wedding was the well-known historic hotel in Yokohama called Hotel New Grand. Although I had known about it for a long time, this was my first time going inside. It offered a stunning view from its upper floors and served a delicious feast.
