ここ数日の自宅での生活は、これまでにないほど快適だ。理由は単純。ほかに誰も住んでいないからだ。
もともとは、2人の同居人と一緒に住んでいた。そのうちの1人は現在、一時的に母国に帰っている。もう1人は、バンクーバーの新しい家に引っ越した。
一時帰国中のその住人が戻ってきたら、私と彼の2人で暮らすことになる。3人で暮らしていたときよりも、快適な生活になるだろう。ただし、問題点もある。住人全員による家賃の合計額は固定されているため、住人が減ると、そのぶん1人当たりの支払額が上がってしまう。
On Sunday, December 7th, 2025, I got up around 11:00 a.m. PST and stayed home all day.
For the past few days, I’ve been spending the most comfortable time at home. That’s because nobody else has been living here.
I originally had two other housemates. One of them is temporarily staying in his home country, and the other one just moved to a new place.
Once the former housemate comes back this month, I’ll be living with him again. It’s obvious that the fewer housemates you live with, the more comfortable it becomes. However, in the house I live in, the total rent shared by all housemates is fixed, so having fewer housemates means the rent each person—including me—has to pay goes up.
