現地時間2025年12月12日（金）、午前7時半ごろに起きた。ボランティア活動に行く予定だったが、体調不良のため休んだ。
地元のホッケーファンにとって悲しいニュースがあった。NHL.comなどのメディアによると、バンクーバー・カナックスの主力、クイン・ヒューズ選手のトレードが決まったという。カナックスは同選手をミネソタ・ワイルドへ放出し、見返りとして若手選手3人などを獲得した。
このトレードはカナックスにとって妥当なものだろう。今季のチーム成績は期待外れで、彼らがチームの再建に踏み切ったのは明らかだ。
ヒューズ選手のプレーが好きな私だが、このトレードには納得している。彼の素晴らしいプレーをもってしても、チームを強くすることは難しいと思うからだ。
On Friday, December 12th, 2025, I got up at 7:30 a.m. PST and couldn’t make it to the volunteer work I was supposed to do at a park. I have been struggling with a stomachache since last night and thought it would be better to rest at home. While the pain eased as I slept during the daytime, it was still present tonight. I didn’t feel nauseous at all.
Painful news for hockey fans in Vancouver was reported today—Quinn Hughes, a star player and the captain of the Vancouver Canucks, has been traded to the Minnesota Wild, according to many media outlets, including NHL.com. In exchange, the Canucks acquired three young players and a first-round draft pick.
It seems to be a reasonable trade for the Canucks, given the fact that they have been having a disappointing season so far. They have clearly decided to rebuild their roster.
While I love watching Hughes’s performances, I agree with their decision. From what I have seen in their games last season and this season, it is obvious that the team has not been functioning well enough to beat other teams, and his great plays alone have not been enough to drastically change their competitiveness.
