現地時間2026年1月5日（月）、午前3時半ごろに起きた。夕方、弓道の練習をした。
前日のアイスホッケーの試合を、家で観た。コロラド・アバランチとフロリダ・パンサーズの試合だ。アバランチは今季、抜群の成績を収めており、試合前の時点で10連勝中だった。
このチームの強みは何なのか。彼らのプレーを見て、私が気づいたのは、積極的にシュートする姿勢だ。決定機とは言い難いような場面であっても、ためらうことなくシュートを放っていた。
とはいえ、試合に勝ったのはアバランチではなくパンサーズだった。アバランチ所属の2人のカナダ人スター、マッキノン選手とマカー選手の得点を個人的には期待していたが、その希望は叶わなかった。
On Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, I got up at 3:30 a.m. PST and practiced Japanese archery in the evening.
At home, I watched an ice hockey game held the previous day between the Colorado Avalanche and the Florida Panthers, using a sports network’s streaming service. The Avalanche are recognized as the strongest team in the league so far this season. Before the game, they had won 10 games in a row.
While watching their play, I tried to figure out what makes them so competitive. What I noticed was how aggressively they shoot the puck. Even when the chances to score did not seem very good, they took shots without hesitation.
That said, the winner of the match was the Panthers, not the Avalanche. Although I had hoped that two Canadian stars for the Avalanche, Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar, would score, they were unable to do so this time.
