現地時間2026年1月7日（水）、午前3時半ごろに起きた。一日中家で過ごした。
前日のアイスホッケーの試合を家で観た。コロラド・アバランチ対タンパベイ・ライトニングの一戦だ。今週アバランチの試合を見るのは、私にとってこれが2回目。前回観たのは、アバランチの連勝記録が10で止まった試合だった。今回観る試合こそは、アバランチが強さを発揮してほしいと、個人的に期待していた。
結局今回の試合で分かったのは、アバランチがいかに強いかではない。相手チームであるライトニングの完成度の高さだ。ヘーゲル選手の鮮やかな決勝ゴールによって、ライトニングは4対2で勝利した。ヘーゲル選手が来月の五輪でカナダ代表としてどのような活躍を見せるのか、私は楽しみになった。
私がこの試合で初めて知った選手は、ヘーゲル選手ともう1人いる。クチェロフ選手だ。同選手の右サイドからの攻撃が、チームの1点目と3点目をもたらした。クチェロフ選手はすでに10年以上の実績があり、名選手としての立ち位置を確立しているようだ。
On Wednesday, January 7th, 2026, I got up at 3:30 a.m. PST and stayed home all day.
At home, I watched an ice hockey game held the previous day between the Colorado Avalanche and the Tampa Bay Lightning. It was my second time watching a game involving the Avalanche this week, and their previous game had ended as their first loss in the last 11 games. I expected them to win this game and show why they have dominated the league so far this season.
What I eventually learned from the game I watched today was how strong the Lightning are, rather than the power of the Avalanche. With a stunning game-winning goal by Brandon Hagel, the Lightning defeated their opponent 4–2. I’m looking forward to seeing how he will perform as a member of Canada’s national team in the upcoming Olympic Games.
Like Hagel, Nikita Kucherov was another player I became aware of for the first time through this game. His attacks on the right side contributed to their first and third goals. Additionally, his accomplishments over more than 10 years of his career are impressive enough to show that he is a core player on the team.
