現地時間2026年1月8日（木）、午前4時に起きた。午前中から外出した。
今日訪れた場所は、ポートコキットラムのコミュニティセンターだ。図書館、カフェ、プール、フィットネスセンター、体育館など、さまざまな設備を備えている。印象に残ったのは、ピックルボールの人気の高さだ。建物の内外で、合計で数十人の人がプレーしていた。年齢や性別に関係なく、人気を集めているようだ。
私がここに来た目的は、アイススケートをするためだ。この施設にはアイスリンクが3つもある。
リンクはとても滑りやすく快適だった。こころなしか、氷の表面が他の施設よりも滑らかに感じた。リンク中央には、クロスオーバー練習用の区画が設けらていた。クロスオーバーとは、円を描くように滑る動きで、私が最近取り組んでいる技術だ。
On Thursday, January 8th, 2026, I got up at 4:00 a.m. PST and went out in the morning.
The place I visited today was the Port Coquitlam Community Centre, a cultural and recreational facility in Port Coquitlam. It offers various amenities, including a library, a café, a leisure pool, a fitness centre, and a gymnasium. I was surprised by how popular pickleball was there, as dozens of people were playing it regardless of their age or gender, both in the gym and on the outdoor courts in front of the building.
My purpose in going there was to enjoy ice skating. This community centre has three ice rinks, whereas all the ice skating facilities I had been to before had only one or two rinks.
The rink I practiced on today was very comfortable for skating, as the ice surface felt smoother than those at other facilities. In addition, the middle of the rink had a designated area for practicing crossovers, a movement in which skaters glide around a circle, which I have been working on recently.
