現地時間2026年1月2日（金）、16時ごろに起きた。一日中家で過ごした。
昨日は、家の煙感知器の騒音に悩まされた。そのせいで体調が悪くなった。同居人が同様の問題を過去にも経験しており、騒音を止めてくれた。
今日の我が家は無事だったかというと、そういうわけではない。トイレが詰まってしまったのだ。私としてはトイレットペーパーを大量に使ったつもりはなかったが、水が流れなくなってしまった。手でトイレットペーパーを取り除いて、ようやく問題が解決した。
カナダのトイレは詰まりやすいと言われている。実際、我が家のトイレの水圧は相当弱い。なんとか私は昨日まで、この「トイレ問題」にうまく対処してきたのだが、今日ついに試練の時がやって来た。日本で一番恋しいものの1つが、トイレだ。
On Friday, January 2nd, 2026, I got up around 4:00 p.m. PST and stayed home all day.
As I mentioned in a post on this blog yesterday, there was an issue with a beeping smoke detector in my home. The problem affected my physical condition yesterday. Fortunately, one of my housemates had experienced similar beeping issues in the house before and managed to figure out how to stop the noise from the device last night.
How about today? Unfortunately, another problem occurred in my home. When I used the toilet, it became clogged. I believed that I hadn’t used much toilet paper, but it wouldn’t flush no matter how many times I tried. By removing the blockage by hand, I finally managed to fix the problem.
It is said that toilets in Canada tend to clog easily, and the flush pressure of the toilet in my house is clearly weak. I had never encountered this issue in Canada until yesterday, but the challenging time finally came today. One thing I miss most about Japan is its toilets.
