現地時間2025年12月29日（月）、午前8時ごろに起きた。午前中、外出した。
散歩中、初めてみる鳥に遭遇した。橙色と黒が特徴的なその鳥は、葉が落ちた森のなかで目立っていた。この鳥は、ムナオビツグミというそうだ。
今日私が訪れた場所は、ヘイスティングス・パークだ。パシフィック・コロシアムやアグロドームといったスポーツ施設がある、広大な都市公園だ。バンクーバー・カナックスはかつてパシフィック・コロシアムを本拠地としていた。
2010年の冬季五輪におけるフィギュアスケート競技の会場も、パシフィック・コロシアムだった。浅田真央選手がここで演技を披露し、銀メダルを獲得した。
現在は、女子プロアイスホッケーチーム「バンクーバー・ゴールデンアイズ」が本拠地としてアリーナを活用している。Common Goldeneyeという鳥をオマージュした、チームのロゴを、あちこちで見ることができる。
On Monday, December 29th, 2025, I got up around 8:00 a.m. PST and went out in the morning.
While walking around a neighborhood in Vancouver today, I spotted a bird I had never seen before. Its small orange-and-black body stood out in a forest where the leaves had already fallen. The bird is called a Varied Thrush.
One of the places I visited today was Hastings Park, a huge urban park that includes sports facilities such as the Pacific Coliseum and the Agrodome. The Vancouver Canucks used to play at the Pacific Coliseum, and the arena was also a venue for figure skating events at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Mao Asada, the most famous figure skating star in Japan, performed there and won a silver medal.
The arena is currently the home arena of the Vancouver Goldeneyes, a professional women’s ice hockey team in Vancouver. The team’s logo, which is inspired by a bird called the Common Goldeneye, could be seen throughout the arena.
