現地時間2026年1月20日（火）、午前10時半に起きた。昼、アイススケートをした。
モホークという動きを練習していたところ、ある常連客が話しかけてきた。その男性は親切にも、モホークのやり方について助言をくれた。助言に従って、私はこれからも練習を続けようと思う。
今日のリンクは、小学生らしき元気な子どもたちでにぎわっていた。全体で50人以上の利用者がいたなかで、その半数以上が子どもだった。
彼らは遠足として来ていたようだ。生徒を引率している大人たちの姿もあった。私の知る限り、遠足としてアイススケートに行くことは、バンクーバーでよくあるらしい。日本の首都圏とは違う文化だ。
On Tuesday, January 20th, 2026, I got up around 10:30 a.m. PST and went ice skating around noon at the Rosemary Brown Recreation Centre.
While I was practicing a movement called the Mohawk, a man whom I often see at the rink talked to me and taught me how to perform the skill. His advice will help me get used to it, although I am sure it will take many attempts before I fully get the hang of it.
The ice rink was lively with many energetic children, who were likely elementary school students. Out of more than 50 visitors in total, over half were kids.
They apparently came there on a field trip, and I noticed some adults who were likely teachers accompanying the students. From what I have seen and heard, going ice skating as part of a field trip is common in Vancouver, whereas it is uncommon in Tokyo, Japan.
