自宅でアイスホッケーの試合を観た。ピッツバーグ・ペンギンズとバンクーバー・カナックスの一戦だ。接戦の末、ペンギンズが3対2で勝利した。
約1万9000人の観客がバンクーバーのアリーナに集まったそうだ。そのなかで最もこの試合に興奮したのは、ベン・キンデル選手の家族や友人だろう。キンデル選手はペンギンズの新人で、バンクーバー近郊出身の18歳。家族や友人の前で、同選手は2得点の活躍を披露した。
所属チームに関係なく、バンクーバー出身の選手にはぜひとも活躍してほしい。例えば、エドモントン・オイラーズのライアン・ニュージェント＝ホプキンス選手、シカゴ・ブラックホークスのコナー・ベダード選手、ワシントン・キャピタルズのJustin Sourdif選手などがいる。
On Tuesday, January 27th, 2026, I got up at 10:00 a.m. PST and practiced ice skating around noon.
At home, I watched an ice hockey game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Vancouver Canucks, which had been held two days earlier at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. That exciting game ended in a 3–2 win for the Penguins.
Among the roughly 19,000 spectators in the arena, the most excited ones were probably the family members and friends of Ben Kindel, an 18-year-old player from Coquitlam who is playing as a rookie for the Penguins. In front of them, he delivered an outstanding performance, scoring two goals.
I cheer for any players from Metro Vancouver regardless of which team they belong to. Besides Kindel, there are several competitive NHL players from the area, such as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins from Burnaby with the Edmonton Oilers, Connor Bedard from North Vancouver with the Chicago Blackhawks, and Justin Sourdif from Richmond with the Washington Capitals.
