現地時間2026年2月7日（土）、午前7時ごろに起きた。夕方、弓道の練習をした。
家では、冬季五輪の女子アイスホッケーを2試合も観た。1試合目は日本対フランスで、もう1つは日本対ドイツの対戦だ。日本はフランスに3対2で勝利したものの、ドイツには敗れた。
日本の女子チームは前にも、五輪に出場したことがある。それを知っていた私だが、実際に試合を観るのは今回が初めてだ。実際の彼女たちのプレーは、私の想像を上回るものだった。
特に印象に残ったのは、北海道出身の志賀紅音選手だ。日本出身の選手として初めて、北米のプロ女子アイスホッケーリーグ（PWHL）でプレーした実績を持つ。今大会、日本の攻撃に違いを生み出し、いずれの試合でも1アシストを記録している。
On Saturday, February 7th, 2026, I got up around 7:00 a.m. PST and practiced Japanese archery in the evening.
At home, I watched a couple of women’s ice hockey games from the Olympic Winter Games. One was between the national teams of Japan and France. The other was also a game involving Japan, this time against Germany. While Japan won 3–2 against France, it was defeated by Germany.
Although I had known that Japan’s women’s national team had participated in the Olympics before, it was my first time watching their games. Their performances in these matches were better than I had expected.
One player who stood out to me was Akane Shiga, a young forward from Hokkaido who recorded one assist in each game of the tournament so far. I was impressed by several plays in which she moved around the ice while possessing the puck and made a difference for Japan. It is easy to understand why she became the first Japan-born player to play in the Professional Women’s Hockey League.
