現地時間2026年2月10日（火）、午前7時ごろに起きた。昼、アイススケートをやった。
夕方、外出した。散歩した場所は、ニューウェストミンスターのムーディ・パーク。テニスコートや遊び場などを備えた、広めの公園だ。
園内の野球場には、「ジャスティン・モーノー・フィールド」という名前がついている。ジャスティン・モーノーと言えば、カナダを代表する元野球選手。とはいえ、ニューウェストミンスターでその名前を目にするとは思っていなかった。
この名前がついた経緯は分からないが、MLBの公式サイトによると同選手はニューウェストミンスター生まれで、この街の高校に通っていたという。伝説的な野球選手がバンクーバー都市圏の出身だと知って、私はなんとなくうれしい気持ちになった。
On Tuesday, February 10th, 2026, I got up around 7:00 a.m. PST and practiced ice skating around noon.
In the evening, I went out and walked around Moody Park in New Westminster, which has several facilities such as tennis courts and a playground.
I was surprised by the name of a baseball field in the park: Justin Morneau Field. I knew of Justin Morneau, a retired professional baseball player recognized as one of the greatest players from Canada, but I didn’t expect to come across his name in New Westminster.
While I’m not sure why the field bears his name, according to the official MLB website, he was born in New Westminster and went to high school in the city. For some reason, it makes me happy to know that a legendary baseball player came from Metro Vancouver.
