現地時間2026年2月12日（木）、13時ごろに起きた。近所をぶらぶら散歩した。
自宅では、冬季五輪のいくつかの競技を観た。そのうちの1つが、日本代表による女子カーリングの試合だ。日本代表は残念ながら、今日の2試合、どちらにも敗れてしまった。
五輪のなかで私が楽しみにしている競技は、女子カーリングだけではない。男子アイスホッケーもだ。カナダの金メダル獲得を期待している。代表チームのスター選手たちがどのように結束・連携し、金メダルを達成するのか、その過程を見るのも面白いはずだ。
待ちに待った初戦が本日開催され、カナダはチェコに5対0で勝利した。マクデービッド選手とセレブリーニ選手といった私のお気に入り選手のほか、マカー選手やマーナー選手といった、私が普段あまり注目していない選手の活躍も目立った。ノースバンクーバー出身の若きスター、セレブリーニ選手が決めた先制点は、特に意味のあるものだったと思う。高いパック保持率を活かしきれていなかった第1エンド、その終了間際に彼が状況を打開した。
On Thursday, February 12th, 2026, I got up around 1:00 p.m. PST and went out to relax in my neighborhood.
At home, I watched several sporting events at the 2026 Winter Olympics. One of them was a women’s curling match played by the Japanese national team. I truly root for them and hope they win a medal, but they lost their first two games of the tournament, both of which were held today.
Like women’s curling, men’s ice hockey is one of the Olympic sports that I was absolutely looking forward to watching. I hope the national team of Canada wins the gold medal. At the same time, I’m very excited to see how the country’s star players will come together, work effectively, and accomplish their ultimate goal.
Their long-awaited first game took place today, and Canada defeated Czechia 5–0. Not only my favorite players, Connor McDavid and Macklin Celebrini, but also players I don’t usually follow, such as Cale Makar and Mitch Marner, contributed to the victory. I personally think that Canada’s first goal, scored by Celebrini—a young star from North Vancouver—was especially meaningful because he found the breakthrough late in the first period, finally capitalizing on the team’s strong puck possession, which had failed to result in a goal until then.
