現地時間2026年1月29日（木）、13時半ごろに起きた。前日の午後から喉の痛みが続いていた。風邪薬と睡眠のおかげか、今日の夕方には症状がだいぶ和らいだ。
毎週木曜日はアイススケートに行っているが、今日はやめておいた。それでも、出かける必要はあった。ショッピングモールで食料品を補充するためだ。
モールへ向かう途中、フードバンクらしき露店を見かけた。多くの人が並んでいた。どうやら、食料の受け取りを待っていたようだ。
フードバンクという文化があることを知っていた私だが、実際に目にしたのは今日が初めてだった。興味深い文化だ。私の知る限り、日本ではそこまで広く浸透していないと思う。
On Thursday, January 29th, 2026, I got up around 1:00 p.m. PST. Since the previous afternoon, I had been suffering from a sore throat. Thanks to taking cold medicine and getting plenty of sleep, the symptoms had almost eased by the evening.
Although I usually go ice skating every Thursday, I did not do so that day. However, I still had to go to a mall to buy groceries.
On the way to the shopping center, I came across a stall that appeared to be a food bank. Many people were lining up, apparently waiting to receive groceries.
While I had known that food banks exist in Canada, this was my first time seeing one in person. Since this kind of system or culture is not common in Japan, I found it quite interesting.
